Many opportunities for expansion
will arise during the recession and it is important that we take
hold of these to expand the SPAR Chain.
For SPAR International the key
focus remains on the large developing markets of China, India and
Russia. We will also continue our expansion in Africa. In the past
year two key milestones were reached in expanding our SPAR
Network:
- The first SPAR Hypermarket in the capital city of China,
Beijing, opened September 2010.
- The first SPAR Hypermarket in the capital city of India, Delhi,
opened January 2011.
SPAR International entered 11 new
countries in the last decade, particularly targeting the developing
markets. During the current decade we will continue this
development and focus on opening SPAR stores in large emerging
markets such as Asia, Africa, the Middle East and
Russia.
