Nationwide introduction of CO2 neutral organic shopping bags in all SPAR stores
In the summer of 2007 INTERSPAR was the first trading organisation in Austria to introduce shopping bags made of renewable raw materi-als. Due to the sensational success and the great acceptance from customers, the SPAR organic shopping bags will now be available in all SPAR, SPAR-Gourmet and EUROSPAR stores in Austria.
Every year approximately 6,000 up to 7,000 tons of polyethylene shopping bags are circulated. In thermal recycling processes 13,800 up to 16,100 tons of CO2 are generated. (source: Federal Environment Agency).
