SPAR Netherlands sees rise in online shopping

In January, another 14 SPAR stores in the Netherlands implemented online shopping into their service offering, bringing the total number of online SPAR stores in the country to 130.

SPAR Online offers customers the chance to order their groceries online. All products available in the SPAR stores which offer the service are also made available online. Customers can collect their purchases from their SPAR store or they can choose to have their orders delivered to their homes. Delivery is free when a customer spends €50,00 or more.

In addition to the usual items available online, customers can now also make use of the SPAR meal service, Eet Smakelijk! Customers can choose from a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes including soups, salads and desserts. Through the Eet Smakelijk! meal service, SPAR meets the needs of elderly customers living independently who are interested in eating healthy, nourishing meals but are no longer able to or no longer wish to cook for themselves. A number of key dietary needs have been taken into consideration with this range, which can be purchased by any customer and, as with the online grocery service, also be either collected from SPAR or delivered to the home

Research has shown that children living in towns or neighbourhoods in which SPAR operates often order shopping online for their parents – including Eet Smakelijk! meals – and that they choose for the orders to be delivered. The addition of 14 more SPAR Online stores means that this delivery service can now reach a larger number of customers.
