SPAR Netherlands were delighted with the number of spectators that visited the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam in the first week of July. SPAR Netherlands partnered with the Johan Cruyff Foundation on a campaign which brought young customers the chance to participate in a Cruyff Foundation Athletics Camp in their region - a total of 14 camps were held around the country.

Healthier lifestyle

“We wanted to promote a healthy lifestyle for our customers and their children,” said Susanne Kroon, Commercial Director of SPAR Netherlands. “Along with enabling children to participate in the Cruyff Foundation Athletics Camp, we made a donation towards ‘Schoolplein14’. This is a project established by the Johan Cruyff Foundation that encourages children to do sport. Johan Cruyff believed that sport should be a school subject and strongly supported this initiative. Healthy eating also forms part of a healthy lifestyle and that’s also a subject on which we can provide information.”

Prizes

Between 19 May and 15 June 2016, SPAR customers who purchase selected promotion products, received a player’s card, which enabled children aged 6-14, to have the possibility to participate in the Cruyff Foundation Athletics Camp in their region.

An active summer

Kroon: “Through our partnership with the Cruyff Foundation and our sponsorship of the European Athletics Championships, we had an active and sporty summer. We will continue to work on other local activities to ensures customers keep sporty feeling!”
