Over the past year all SPAR Countries have expanded and strengthened their private label ranges. In response to the changed economic circumstances of consumers, private label strategies have been developed to cover all price segments and consumer needs.


SPAR International: Italian Range
Standard SPAR brand products ranges were further developed and supported by value low price ranges and premium products. These ranges enable us to deliver price and value to our consumers.

Many country organizations have expanded their standard SPAR Ranges with a low price or discount range to improve their position. Premium ranges have also appeared in a number of countries. These ranges reflect the confidence the consumer has in our branded products.

SPAR International has played an important role in supporting SPAR counties to extent their private label ranges. This support has included securing improved terms, continued development of the range and facilitating SPAR partners in the delivery of mixed loads.

This last service is provided from a consolidation warehouse in the Netherlands. It is possible to source a wide range of international SPAR brands from this warehouse. The new service has enabled us to support SPAR Countries to deepen and extend their offer of our SPAR branded products.

Private label in SPAR Countries
All SPAR Countries have achieved considerable success in offering their consumers quality and value through their SPAR private label ranges.

The leader in the private label development has been SPAR Austria. Their private label products range from premium

products with supreme quality trough to standard private label and the S-Budget range with a focus on price. The private label ranges of SPAR Austria now cover all market sections and provide a unique shopping experience for their consumers.

In South Africa SPAR reported a growth in sales of SPAR branded products of 9%. These products are promoted through a 'quality for money' offer. 310 products have been launched or repackage in 2010, this included providing information on ingredients and recommended daily amounts.

SPAR UK continued to develop and extend the brand as one of their business priorities. Over 2010 approximately 80% of the private label products have been redeveloped.

Continued investment by SPAR Ireland in the development of their private label products has supported their strong business performance in a difficult market. This success was marked by winning the national award for 'Best Private Label Range'.

Last year SPAR Slovenia introduced their SPAR Premium range which includes a number of products from well known Slovene manufacturers. In addition to this both the SPAR 'Natur Pur' and 'Vital' ranges were extended. The 'Free From' range was launched for people who require special diets. For the price-sensitive consumer the S-Budget range was developed and accounted for 5% of sales of food and non-food products.
